We've been in New York for the past week and it has been so relaxing. A few things we did:
Niagra Falls was one of the most fun things I've ever done on vacation. We rode the Maid of the Mist boat like Jim Carrey does in Bruce Almighty. You get on with a cheap blue poncho thinking "is this really necessary?" I guess I've never really paid attention to pictures of Niagra before, but I didn't know what to expect. So we get in the boat and pass this beautiful waterfall shown below -
So I think the boat ride is over and I'm taking a bunch of pictures of this waterfall not really paying attention to the fact that we're not turning around; we're continuing forward. So I start to feel a little mist and then the boat starts swaying and I turn around and see this -
It was incredible. If you can see that black little spot in the middle of the falls to the right side of the picture, that is the boat we were on. It felt like it was raining in there. It was one of my favorite moments of vacation ever. Here's a picture of us drenched on the boat -
Then after the boat actually did turn around, we saw a beautiful rainbow -
It was great. We went to look at the view on the Canadian side as well, and they definitely have the better view. We had dinner there and I got some fudge =)
Yesterday, we went to New York City just for the day to see West Side Story and have dinner. It was weird driving into NYC through the Lincoln Tunnel because the only other time I've been I was flying.
We've had a lot of fun just getting to hang out and relax around the house with Leah and Andrew. We've watched movies and they've taken us to some of the good restaurants in town. This will be the last time we see them for a while, at least a year. We're really glad we could come up and see them before we left.
